Galahs are a smaller and more colourful version of the sulphur-crested cockatoos. Where I live I tend to see them
only in pairs.Large flocks are seen more in the open and inland areas.Like their sulphur-crested cousins, they are frequently
seen in the suburbs of Melbourne nowdays. When I was a boy, I don't remember seeing them at all in the suburbs. Some
parrot species are definitely on the way out, but not these cockatoos, who have expanded their habitats markedly in the last
fifty years.

Galahs, like all cockatoos are cheeky and noisy by nature. Their powers of mimicry are remarkable. When I was a boy, neighbours
had a pet galah who talked with his owners and copied his owners wheezing cough so expertly you never knew whether it was
human or bird who was coughing.
Galahs-Location Map.
Though galahs can be seen in flocks of hundreds, they always pair off and usually keep their mate for life.
