These little birds are one of my favourites. They are tiny too,only some kinds of finches are smaller. Darting quickly
around the garden in a group of between six and twelve,they would hardly be noticed without the brilliant blue colour of the
dominant male standing out. The females and the non-breeding males are a fawn-grey colour.Their movement is speedy
but co-ordinated as if controlled by one mind (a feature of most bird types,I've found).
If you are quiet and don't move suddenly in the garden they will dart around you quite close in their continual quest for
small insects and seeds. Its then you can hear their voices; a sharp,tiny whistle going down in scale. I usually only
see them in the garden when the larger birds are absent.
